SONORA BRASIL 2009
Daniel was invited by the SESC (Brazil’s Social Service of Commerce) to do a nationwide tour as part of the Sonora Brasil project. It comprises 80 concerts in 20 different States, between the months of May and August. Daniel will perform works by composers from the South of Brazil and will share the stage with guitarist João Pedro Borges, who will play pieces from the Northeast. Daniel was awarded in 2009 the Açorianos Prize for the project Sarau no Hospital (Music at the Hospital), created and coordinated by him at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). Developed as an outreach project at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, it has brought concerts and workshops to over 2000 patients. Read more about Music at the Hospital. |

Musicians from Brazil: An Instrumental Encyclopedia is already online (in Portuguese). It is the first knowledge base entirely dedicated to Brazilian instrumental music, from the nineteenth century to the present day.
